About Michael
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and got my first taste of the spotlight as a kid on a local Saturday morning TV show Popeye and Peggy, when the host pulled me from the audience for a bit on air. That moment lit a spark that has never gone out.
In 1979, my family moved to Mill Valley, California, where I joined an ensemble theater company that was part of a nationally recognized drama program known for launching Hollywood careers for young people. That training led me to Los Angeles, where I began working steadily in commercials and television.
I found early success as a series regular on FOX’s Tribes (95 episodes), along with recurring roles on Midnight Caller and guest appearances on Star Trek: The Next Generation (as Jack London), Cheers, China Beach, California Dreams, and more. I also appeared in national campaigns for Coca-Cola, Hugo Boss, Macy’s, and many others.
In the mid-1990s, I made the decision to step away from Hollywood to experience more of life beyond the soundstage. I became a father, an entrepreneur, and a motorcycle road racing champion. From 1997 to 2000, I served as Senior Art Director and Data Acquisition Engineer for the world-renowned Ducati racing team Fast by Ferracci, traveling with the team and managing media relations on and off the track.
During the dot-com boom, I helped launch Hotwire.com as its Senior Art Director before founding my own award-winning creative agency, Mojotown Multimedia. Over the next 16 years, Mojotown launched campaigns, built brands, and earned design accolades, with work featured in books and used as a university case study. I later expanded the company to include a nonprofit division supporting charities and a retail motorcycle gear shop inspired by my racing career.
In 2013, I launched RaceFuelZ, a healthy hydration drink that gained momentum in retail, sports sponsorships, and fan conventions. Star Trek fans may remember the exclusive “RoddenBerry” flavor we debuted at a convention.
Now back in Los Angeles, fully re-immersed in acting, writing, and live performance. Currently studying at The Groundlings improv school, collaborating with former castmates on a dark comedy web mini-series called Dumb Luck, and actively seeking new representation.
I didn’t just take a break from Hollywood, I went out and lived a handful of lifetimes so when I came back, I’d have a much deeper well to pull from.
